Cupping

Cupping is an ancient healing method and is one of the purging procedures. During cupping, a negative pressure is created in cupping glasses that are placed directly on the skin – this is intended to relieve or stimulate the body. A distinction is made between dry and bloody cupping.

Cupping is the best-known draining procedure in this country.

In dry cupping, the cupping glass is placed on the intact skin, whereas in bloody cupping, the skin is punctured with a fine, sterile needle before the cupping glass is placed on the skin. Bloody cupping is therefore a type of bloodletting.

Cupping improves local blood circulation, lymph flow and metabolism in the treated skin area. The negative pressure over the treated area expands and loosens underlying tissue layers (e.g. muscle tissue, fascia, lymphatic channels). This can improve any tension and hardening in the affected areas due to unfavorable lymphatic drainage in the tissue. It can have a beneficial effect on certain reflex zones and thus indirectly on the organs and organ systems associated with them. Acupuncture points can also be cupped. I also use cupping to revitalize and strengthen the immune system.
